FAIRFIELD, Wa. – At 10:19 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, Washington State Patrol responded to a fatality collision on State Highway 27 in Fairfield.

According to a police report, 27-year-old Anthony Silva of Latah, Washington was driving a 2005 Mini Cooper northbound on SR 27 when he collided with a 2011 Brenner Tank Trailer being hauled by 56-year-old Jeffrey Gunderson of Potlatch, who was turning southbound on SR27 from Main. Silva struck the axle of Gunderson’s trailer at an excessive rate of speed.

Silva, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Gunderson, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured in the collision.

Next of kin has been notified. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.
