On November 11, 2022, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Grangeville, Idaho, honored Jail Lieutenant Rick Knutson for his actions on December 21, 2021 with their Life Saving Award.

Rick and then Detention Deputy Jason Brown intervened when an inmate attempted to hang himself, ultimately saving his life.

The Sheriff is very proud of his staff and their actions that day and would like to thank our local VFW chapter and our local representative, Lucky Gallegos, for bestowing this honor on Rick Knutson.
