A biological anthropologist was called in to assist with the investigation and preliminary inspection indicates that the remains are human.

Based on the anthropologist’s findings, it was determined that there was nothing
medicolegal found, and the remains are believed to potentially be ancestral remains.
The Nez Perce Tribe will continue the handling of this case and decision-making on how to proceed with the remains and the scene of their discovery.
