Family Weekend at LC State set for April 19-21

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College invites students and their families, alumni, friends and supporters of the college to its annual Family Weekend on April 19-21, coinciding with the college’s annual Art Under the Elms celebration.

Events and activities include a color run, cornhole tournament, trivia night, alumni panel and more. A list of all events and more details are available on the Family Weekend website. All events are open to the public, with the exception of the cornhole tournament.

A signature event this year will be the Color the Valley Run, put on by students in LC State professor Clay Robinson’s Movement & Sport Sciences class. It will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 9:30 a.m., starting in the Reid Centennial Hall Parking Lot. Participants are invited to celebrate the community and campus by walking, jogging, or running through LC State’s campus while being doused with colorful powders. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Entry is free. Participants are encouraged to wear a T-shirt that they don’t mind getting dirty. For more information contact Laban Francis at lgfrancis@lcmail.lcsc.edu.

Other new events this year include the Warrior Dance Warm Up at 8:30-9 a.m. on Saturday, preceding the color run and featuring the Warrior dance team. On Friday, April 19, there will be an alumni panel hosted by LC State’s Student Employment & Career Readiness Center and the Alumni Association during which panelists will discuss career tips, insights, and recommendations. On Saturday, a new event called “Bloom Together” will invite students, families, and friends to plant a flower together on the Harris Field Back Diamond.

Throughout the weekend, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the activities and events of the 38th annual Art Under the Elms (AUE), also held on campus. This event will feature an artisan marketplace, food trucks, musical performances, cultural dance presentations, readings, and theatre films and performances.

Also new this year, WarriorWear, the college’s book and merchandise store, will be selling alumni and family-related merchandise and souvenirs at a popup location near the entrance to AUE just west of the Administration Building. Booth hours will be noon-5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.

Family Weekend is sponsored by the LC State Alumni Association.
