President Biden Issues Half-Staff Directive in Honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service

WASHINGTON, D.C. President Joe Biden has proclaimed Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, 2024, National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, in accordance with Public Law 107–51, the flag of the United States will be flown at half-staff at all Federal office buildings in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

President George W. Bush approved legislation requiring the American flag to be lowered to half-staff on all Federal buildings to memorialize fallen firefighters on October 16, 2001. National Remembrance of Fallen Firefighters moved from October to May starting in 2023
