Crews Manage to Keep Billy Creek Fire at 3,000 Acres

GRANGEVILLE – The Idaho Department of Lands has reported that as of 3:00 p.m. (PDT), the Billy Creek Fire, burning just off the Snake River, near the Idaho/Washington border, has remained at 3,000 acres.

Fire crews are using direct suppression tactics which means keeping the fire perimeter as small as possible.  Structure protection is in place through air support along the Snake River. Idaho Department of Lands has ordered a complex incident management team (CIMT). This team from The Northern Rockies will transition on Sunday to help manage this incident.

The Billy Creek Fire, a grass/brush fire, was first discovered on July 3, 2024. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
