Lewiston Man Charged With Vehicular Manslaughter, Aggravated DUI While Under the Influence of Meth

LEWISTON, ID – A Nez Perce County man has been arrested and charged with alleged vehicular manslaughter and aggravated driving under the influence following a fatal crash in January.

According to court documents, 56-year-old Terry R. Cosner was taken into custody on February 25, 2025. The charges stem from a January 6 crash on Old Spiral Highway, where a vehicle left the roadway, went down an embankment, struck a rock, and rolled. The crash resulted in the death of one passenger and injuries to another.

Investigators reported that Cosner was allegedly driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. Medical records from a search warrant indicated Cosner had over 3,000 ng/mL of methamphetamine in his system. Witness statements and physical evidence also indicated impairment.

Cosner has been charged with felony vehicular manslaughter and aggravated DUI . He also faces a sentencing enhancement as a persistent violator.

Authorities booked Cosner into the Nez Perce County Jail, where he was also served with a separate misdemeanor arrest warrant. The case remains under investigation.
