Fatal Truck and E-Bike Collision Near Airway Heights

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, WA – Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies and Traffic Unit Investigators responded to a fatal collision between a truck and an e-bike early Sunday morning on W. White Road. The adult male rider of the e-bike was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The incident occurred on March 2, 2025, at approximately 12:10 a.m. in the 11400 block of W. White Road. Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by Airway Heights Police Officers and Washington State Patrol Troopers after receiving an initial report of an auto-pedestrian collision.

Investigators determined that a Ford truck pulling a large trailer was traveling southwest when it collided with an e-bike traveling northeast. The driver of the truck remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. He did not show signs of impairment and agreed to field sobriety evaluations, which indicated no impairment. He also voluntarily provided a blood sample for further testing and was released without charges.

According to initial findings, the e-bike may not have had sufficient lighting as required by Washington State law, making visibility difficult. Investigators also noted that the e-bike appeared to have drifted partially into the travel lane at the time of the collision.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
