MERIDIAN, ID – The Idaho State Police (ISP) is accepting applications for trooper positions ahead of its next training academy, which begins in July 2025.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old, high school graduates or hold a GED, and possess or be eligible for an Idaho driver’s license. The selection process includes a written examination, physical fitness test, oral interview, background investigation, and medical and psychological evaluations.
Lieutenant Colonel Fritz Zweigart, Chief of Operations, stated that ISP seeks individuals with integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of duty. He noted that troopers play a role in investigations, roadway safety, and emergency response.
ISP has openings across multiple districts, and applicants may indicate a preferred location. The agency highlights training opportunities, technology access, and professional development as benefits of the role.
