LEWISTON, ID — Amy Albright of Camelot Elementary has been recognized as the 2024-25 Martha Baskin Outstanding Elementary Teacher of the Year. Presented by the Lewiston Independent Foundation for Education (LIFE), this award honors educators who make a meaningful impact on their students, colleagues, and school communities.

The selection process involved nominations from students, parents, and fellow educators, with a committee of retired teachers making the final decision. Along with the award, Albright received a $1,500 prize in recognition of her contributions.

Albright’s teaching career began as a computer lab technician before she transitioned into Gifted and Talented education and later became a fourth-grade teacher. She has also been involved in her school’s PTA, is a parent, and has a deep knowledge of Idaho history, particularly the LC Valley and Hells Canyon.

The award is named after Martha Baskin, an educator who spent two decades teaching in Lewiston and was known for her commitment to helping young students build fundamental skills.

In addition to honoring Albright, the LIFE Board recognized other outstanding educators, including Lance Hansen as Idaho Superintendent of the Year, Rachelle Haag as Idaho Counselor of the Year, and Heidi Cornell as Idaho Teacher of the Year.

Albright’s colleagues and students celebrate her dedication to education, describing her as a teacher who inspires, supports, and challenges students to reach their full potential.
