Man Arrested in Idaho County With Meth for the Third Time in 14 Months

GRANGEVILLE, ID – A recent traffic stop in Idaho County ended with a man arrested on a felony drug charge for the third time since February of 2024.

According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 6:40 pm. on April 9, a deputy was on patrol in the Kamiah area when he stopped a vehicle for a routine traffic stop.

Idaho County’s K9 Millie and her handler performed an open-air sniff on the vehicle and alerted. A search of the vehicle was conducted.  Methamphetamine, paraphernalia and marijuana were found.

55-year-old Kip Lane was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor driving under the influence, misdemeanor driving without privileges and misdemeanor contempt of court.

Lane was also cited on infractions for failure to renew registration and fail to display proof of insurance.

According to court records, Lane was also arrested during a traffic stop with methamphetamine and hydrocodone on February 1, 2025.  He is also charged with three counts of felony unlawful possession of a firearm in that case.  His sentencing is scheduled for May 19 in that case.

In February of 2024, Lane was arrested for felony trafficking in methamphetamine after an Idaho County traffic stop.  The trafficking charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.  Under the agreement, Lane pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.  He served six days in jail and was placed on probation.

He was booked into the Idaho County Jail on Wednesday and is being held without bond.
