Fire Damages Garage in Alley Behind 300 Block of 16th Avenue in Lewiston

LEWISTON, ID — On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Lewiston Fire Department responded to a garage fire in the alleyway behind the 300 block of 16th Avenue.

Crews were dispatched at 11:17 a.m. and arrived to find light smoke and part of the garage’s exterior already burned. A Lewiston Police Department officer was observed using a garden hose to suppress the flames prior to the fire department’s arrival.

Upon entry, firefighters discovered the fire had spread into the garage loft. The remaining flames were extinguished using a booster line, and crews remained on scene for about an hour to monitor for hot spots.

The response included one structural engine, one ambulance, three chief officers, and two fire inspectors. No injuries were reported. Damage to the structure and its contents is estimated at $15,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
