Two Suspects Arrested After Thefts From Multiple Vehicles in Grangeville

GRANGEVILLE, ID – The Grangeville Police Department received multiple reports of vehicle burglaries throughout the city on Monday.  Initial reports indicated the incidents occurred during the early morning hours.  Suspects appeared to have targeted unlocked vehicles.  Missing items included money, wallets, credit cards and firearms.

Police say investigators were able to identify two persons of interest and a vehicle believed to be involved in the incidents. A search warrant was obtained for a residence on West Side Lane in Grangeville and two associated vehicles.

At 4:48 p.m. on Monday, Grangeville Police, assisted by Idaho State Police, conducted a traffic stop on one of the vehicles listed in the search warrant.  The vehicle was occupied by the two persons of interest in the case.

Interviews were conducted and the search warrant was processed on the vehicle.  22-year-old Nickolas Gortsema of Grangeville and a 17-year-old male from Arizona were arrested for multiple counts of burglary, grand theft and fraudulent use of a financial transaction card.

At 7:16 p.m. Monday, Grangeville Police, again assisted by Idaho State Police, executed the search warrant for a residence and second vehicle located at West Side Lane in Grangeville.  Evidence was seized and taken into custody by police.
