Kootenai County Sheriff

COEUR D’ALENE, ID – Two individuals were arrested on April 15, 2025, after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 1:48 p.m., a KCSO deputy initiated a stop near Northwest Boulevard and Lakewood Drive due to a traffic violation. The driver, identified as Kassey Trump, admitted she did not have a valid driver’s license and had attempted to avoid law enforcement contact.

The passenger, Derrick Miller, reportedly appeared nervous and displayed behavior associated with drug use. A K9 unit conducted a free-air sniff around the vehicle, and K9 Luuki alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a glass pipe containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia and packaging materials. Miller admitted to recently purchasing approximately one ounce of methamphetamine in Spokane, Washington.

Further investigation revealed approximately 111 grams of methamphetamine, a syringe containing a clear liquid suspected to be methamphetamine, additional paraphernalia, and a container with an unidentified white powder. Deputies also seized a counterfeit pill believed to contain fentanyl. These items will be tested at the state lab.

Miller was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on charges of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. Trump was found with about 10 grams of methamphetamine and additional paraphernalia and was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
