Idaho Secretary of State Recognized with National Election Award

BOISE, ID – The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office has been recognized with a national award for its efforts in election administration and security, the office announced Thursday.

The recognition came from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) through its Clearinghouse Awards—commonly referred to as the “Clearies.” Idaho received an award in the category of “Outstanding Innovation in Election Contingency Planning” for its proactive and collaborative approach to election security. The office also received an honorable mention for its creative “I Voted” sticker campaign.

Idaho’s award-winning submission detailed the state’s work during the 2024 primary and general elections through the Election Security Group, a coalition of local, state, and federal agencies. The group coordinated response efforts, monitored threats, and provided guidance and messaging surrounding potential election security issues before, during, and after the election.

Secretary of State Phil McGrane credited his office’s internal team, led by Chief Information Officer Cody McRoberts, and highlighted the importance of interagency collaboration. “It’s great to see Idaho recognized, once again, for leading the nation with our innovative approach to Election Security,” McGrane said.

In addition, the Secretary of State’s Office was acknowledged in the “Creative and Original ‘I Voted’ Stickers” category for its “My Hooman Voted” campaign. The campaign featured pets wearing “I Voted” stickers as a way to encourage voter participation in a lighthearted and engaging manner.

The Clearies, now in their ninth year, are intended to spotlight state and local election offices for their efforts in improving election administration. Submissions are evaluated based on innovation, sustainability, and measurable positive outcomes.
