Workshop and Customer Hearing Scheduled on Gem State Water Rate Increase Proposal

ATHOL, ID – The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has announced a public workshop and customer hearing regarding Gem State Water Company’s proposal to increase water rates for customers in northern Idaho.

Gem State Water Company, LLC has requested rate hikes ranging from 53 to 79 percent across its six systems. According to the application, the average residential customer using a 1-inch meter could see a monthly increase between $21.65 and $27.65, depending on the system serving them.

Commission staff will host an informational workshop on Thursday, May 1, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (PDT) at the Athol Community Center, 30355 3rd St., Athol, Idaho.

A formal customer hearing will take place at the same location on Wednesday, June 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. or until all testimony has been received. Customers must attend in person to testify and are encouraged to arrive by 3:45 p.m.

Written comments will be accepted until Friday, June 13, and can be submitted online at puc.idaho.gov using the “Case Comment Form” or by email, referencing case number GSW-W-24-01. Mailed comments must also include the case number, name, and address.
