Anderson Joins LC State Javelin Top Five at Whitworth Twilight

SPOKANE, WA – The LC State Women’s Track and Field team continued its trend of season bests with the Whitworth Twilight on Thursday.

“We continue to see great progress,” coach Mike Collins said. “Some new names etched into our records and a few athletes starting to knock on the door of qualifying for nationals. Throwers had another great day and our sprinters did well. We are building some momentum that I hope continues to grow as we approach championships.”

Gianna Anderson put her name in the Warrior record book with the fifth-best javelin throw in program history. The sophomore hit a mark of 38.72m to place second.

Karissa Lindner won the 100m with a season-best time of 12.38 and Jennah Carpenter made her season debut with a fifth-place finish (13.26). Lindner also won the 200m (25.63) and Carpenter ran a personal best time of 27.23 to finish 14th. Lindner was third in the long jump (5.01m).

Grace Osborne threw a personal best 39.23m in the discus to lead LC State in the event. She placed sixth with Hope Zollman in 10th (34.50m) and Jacklin Linnemeyer in 15th (31.05m). Haylee Appleford led the Warrior women in the shot put with a seventh-place finish (12.14m). Zollman was 13th (10.55m) and Linnemeyer was 15th (9.07m).

Osborne also led the squad in the hammer throw with a sixth-place finish (43.47m). Faith Wersland in seventh place (42.64m), Appleford in 11th (39.27m) and Zollman in 13th (38.01m) each had a PR. Linnemeyer was 16th (33.43m).

Grace Tiegs and Grace McCormick were both in action in the 1,500m. Tiegs led the way in ninth (4:53.70) with McCormick in 17th (5:14.24). McCormick was also 15th in the 800m (2:35.06).
