Crews Very Close to Finishing Pullman Downtown Reconstruction

PULLMAN, WA – Crews are finally near the finish line on the downtown Pullman reconstruction project.

Workers have spent the last three weeks wrapping up the jobs that didn’t get done during last year’s construction project. Crews began the finishing work this month following the winter shutdown.

There are still a few punch list items left to complete like light pole banner arms. Those installations are expected to take place this week. The remaining work is not expected to impact traffic on Main Street in downtown Pullman. Some of the work last week involved fixing a new catch basin that was installed last year and had to be redone.

The City of Pullman is using 9 million dollars in federal government COVID relief money on the project. Crews rebuilt Main Street and the underground utilities and installed new sidewalks. Main was closed for to traffic for over seven months last year. The initial schedule for the work only had Main being closed for four months. The project is running hundreds of thousands of dollars over budget with a total cost of around 12.5 million dollars.
