LEWISTON, ID – Warrior Track and Field bolstered its roster for next season with a pair of athletes from different ends of the globe. Cole Arlint does not have a far to travel as a Lewiston native, while Harry Lazenby will make his way to LC State from Devon, England.
Arlint is a homegrown future Warrior that will graduate from Lewiston High School this spring. In just his second year throwing javelin, he set the state record with a mark of 152’1”. Arlint also competed in football, golf and basketball. He was All-State as a punter and all-league as a safety.
“As everyone knows, I love getting all of the local talented athletes that I can and Cole is definitely a good one,” coach Mike Collins explained. “In an event that has been reintroduced in Idaho, he has already shown that he is one of the best javelin throwers in the state. We believe he will continue to show great improvement as he continues to learn and get stronger, and will be a big contributor right away.”
Lazenby is a sprinter out of Kentisbeare, Devon, England and prepped at Exeter College. He holds school record in the 400m and won the regional title in the event in 2022. He helped his team earn the Mid Devon School Athletics Championship in 2022-23. Lazenby is in the top 5% of GCSE grades nationally and also competed in rugby, cricket and soccer.
He follows in the footsteps of fellow Englishman Sam Atkin. The distance runner’s illustrious career as a Warrior resulted in Atkin being inducted into the LC State Athletics Hall of Fame, NAIA Hall of Fame and ultimately joining the British Olympic team.
“Looking forward to having Harry here,” Collins said. “We have had some pretty good success with guys from the UK, so Harry has some big shoes to fill, but as a sprinter we are looking down a different road for him. He is coming in with what will likely be the best sprint recruiting class we have ever had amongst the men. His times fit in really well and we expect to see him develop well as we work into the season. Great student and great background.”
