POCATELLO, ID — A Fort Hall man has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho.
Creston Dale Kindness, 42, received a 100-month prison sentence for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Chief U.S. District Judge David C. Nye also ordered Kindness to serve five years of supervised release after completing his prison term.
Court records indicate that on January 21, 2024, officers observed Kindness driving at a high rate of speed. A prolonged pursuit ended when his vehicle became stuck in the snow. After being taken into custody and booked into jail, a sheriff’s deputy witnessed Kindness making a video call in which he instructed a female friend to retrieve a bag he had thrown from the car during the chase. The bag, which reportedly had her name on it, was recovered by officers and was found to contain a large sum of cash and 350 grams of fentanyl pills.
Kindness pleaded guilty to the charge on June 24, 2024.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Bingham, Blackfoot, Shelley Investigation Unit, the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Hall Police Department, and the Idaho State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Haycock prosecuted the case.
