CORVALLIS, OR – Lewis-Clark State Baseball earned a total of seven Cascade Conference honors on Thursday with the announcement of the All-Cascade Conference teams. A Warrior pitcher was voted a CCC Pitcher of the Year for the fourth straight season with Jadon Williamson sharing the honor. Five Warriors earned First-Team All-CCC accolades and catcher Bulla Ephan earned a CCC Gold Glove.
Along with Williamson, Charlie Updegrave, Jack Sheward, Jakob Marquez and Jackson Cloud each earned First-Team All-CCC honors.
Williamson shared Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Year honors with Oregon Tech’s Tim Williams and British Columbia’s Will Anderson. Williamson led the conference in ERA (2.47), opposing batting average (.200) and strikeouts (86). He tossed 58.1 innings with a WHIP of 0.98 and allowed just 16 earned runs in his 12 starts. The senior finished the regular season with a 5-0 record.
Updegrave made Cascade Conference history and became the all-time leader in home runs in the conference. With a Cascade-leading 19 home runs this season, the senior has 44 in his career, which is a CCC record. He leads the CCC in RBI (67) and total bases (149). Heading into the postseason, the senior leads the Warriors in hits (74), doubles (18) and slugging percentage (.446), and is second on the team in batting average (.378). He is one of two Warriors to start all 46 games this season.
Sheward is having the best season of his career and continues to excel at the plate. The senior is third on the team in batting average (.350) and leads in triples with two. Sheward is second on the team in RBI and slugging (.650) with 15 doubles and 10 home runs. He ranks third in the CCC in RBI.
Marquez has had a breakout season and was also voted the LCSPYs Male Breakthrough Athlete of the Year. The senior is batting .348 with a .585 slugging percentage. He has 12 doubles and nine home runs this season with 47 RBI.
Cloud finished the regular season tied for second in the conference in saves with four. The junior led the Warriors in appearances this season with 14, including two starts. His 0.95 WHIP leads the team heading into the postseason and his 2.79 ERA is one of the best out of the LC State bullpen. In 42 innings pitched, Cloud had 42 strikeouts and held opposing hitters to a .189 batting average.
Ephan did not commit a single error behind the plate this season in 230 chances. The junior had 22 assists this season with 208 putouts, and caught five base runners stealing.
