ISLAND PARK, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash with multiple fatalities that occurred Thursday evening in southeast Idaho.
According to police, just before 7:15 p.m., ISP troopers responded to the crash on eastbound U.S. Highway 20 near Island Park, at milepost 399.
The preliminary investigation indicates the collision involved a Dodge Ram pickup and a Mercedes passenger van, both of which caught fire after the crash. The van was reportedly transporting a tour group.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene. Due to the severity of the injuries, one air ambulance and additional air and ground resources were dispatched.
Police say seven people have died after the crash. Six were occupants of the van. The driver of the pickup also died. The van had 14 occupants in all. As of early Friday morning, the victims had not been identified.
Idaho State Police are leading the ongoing investigation.
