Investigation Underway in Death of 18-Month-Old Twins in Southern Idaho

PAYETTE, ID — The Payette Police Department has launched an investigation into the deaths of two 18-month-old twins, following a tragic discovery at a residence on North 9th Street.

Officers were dispatched to the home in the 1300 block at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, after receiving a 911 call reporting a possibly deceased child. Upon arrival, authorities found two deceased children—twin siblings—in a shared bed.

The department stated that due to the sensitive nature of the case and out of respect for the family, no identities will be released at this time. Multiple agencies are working together to ensure a comprehensive investigation.

Autopsies for the children are scheduled for Friday, May 2, at the Ada County Medical Examiner’s Office.

“This is a heartbreaking case that impacts not only the family but the entire community,” the department stated in its release. “We ask for patience and understanding as we continue to gather facts and seek justice for these children.”

No further information is available at this time. Authorities emphasized the need to preserve the integrity of the investigation and protect the privacy of those involved. Updates will be released as the investigation progresses.
