Idaho Woman Killed in Crash Near Lochsa Lodge on US12

IDAHO COUNTY, ID – A 54-year-old woman from Middleton, Idaho, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 12 near milepost 161, about one mile west of the Lochsa Lodge. The crash occurred at approximately 11:58 a.m. on May 3, 2025.

According to Idaho State Police, a 60-year-old man from Des Moines, Washington, was driving a white 2021 International box truck eastbound when he crossed the double yellow line while navigating a right-hand curve. The truck entered the westbound lane and collided with a 2023 Hyundai Palisade traveling westbound.

Inside the Hyundai were a 59-year-old male driver and the 54-year-old female passenger, both from Middleton. The woman, who was riding in the back seat, died from her injuries at the scene despite the efforts of air ambulance and local emergency responders. All parties involved were wearing seatbelts.

Traffic was blocked in both directions for about two hours before one lane was reopened for alternating traffic. Cleanup and investigation efforts are expected to continue into Sunday morning or early afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation.
