Clarkston Man Arrested After Leading Police on High-Speed Chase

CLARKSTON, WA – A 39-year-old man was arrested late Friday after allegedly speeding through residential streets, failing to stop for law enforcement, and endangering a female passenger, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Clarkston Police Department.

Chance Webb was booked into the Asotin County Jail on charges of attempting to elude a police vehicle and reckless endangerment.

According to the affidavit, police observed a red SUV traveling at an estimated 50–60 miles per hour in a posted 25 mph zone at the intersection of Adams and 2nd Street around 11:30 p.m. The vehicle reportedly failed to stop at a three-way stop near a high school and park, prompting the officer to activate emergency lights and sirens.

The SUV, later identified as being driven by Webb, allegedly failed to yield and continued southbound, raising dust and debris, which the officer noted as a sign of excessive speed. The pursuit continued down 2nd Street and into a residential area before Webb pulled into a parking space near 3rd and Oak Street and exited the vehicle.

The officer reported drawing his firearm due to safety concerns and ordered the driver to show his hands. Webb was detained without further incident.  A pocket knife along with a large set of keys was recovered from his pockets.

During the interaction, police reported smelling alcohol on Webb’s breath. Webb allegedly admitted to drinking one beer but denied any impact on his driving. Field sobriety tests were administered.  The officer concluded there were no signs Webb was impaired by alcohol.

A female passenger in the vehicle told officers she allowed Webb to drive because she was intoxicated.

The officer concluded there was probable cause for arrest due to Webb’s high-speed driving, failure to yield, attempt to evade law enforcement, and disregard for the safety of his passenger and others.

Webb was transported to the Asotin County Jail.
