MOSCOW, ID – More than 2,200 Vandals are eligible to receive at least 2,340 degrees at University of Idaho’s Spring Commencement Ceremonies, with Winter 2024 graduates invited to join the Spring 2025 class. Ceremonies begin Saturday, May 10, and continue across the state through Monday, May 19. All ceremonies will be livestreamed at uidaho.edu/live.
The 1,600 eligible students who applied to graduate this spring applied for 31 associate degrees, 1,107 bachelor’s degrees, 362 master’s degrees, 28 doctoral degrees and 132 juris doctorates. Another 197 are receiving academic certificates and 11 are receiving specialist certificates.
“These graduates have demonstrated curiosity, collaboration and a drive to succeed that will serve them well in the next chapter of their lives,” U of I President Scott Green said. “We’re proud to call them Vandals and confident they will shape the future with integrity and purpose.”

Moscow commencement schedule
Two Commencement Ceremonies will be held Saturday, May 10, at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome:
- 9:30 a.m.: Colleges of Agricultural and Life Sciences; Business and Economics; Engineering; Natural Resources; and Science.
- 2 p.m.: Colleges of Art and Architecture; Education, Health and Human Sciences; Law; and Letters, Arts and Social Sciences.
Clear bags are required, and attendees must pass through metal detectors. Graduating students may not bring bags into the venue.
No weapons of any kind may enter the venue, including for concealed carry permit holders.
U of I is a tobacco-free campus, and alcohol is permitted only in approved locations on university property.
Boise and Idaho Falls commencement schedule
- Boise: 4 p.m. Mountain time Sunday, May 18, at the Boise Centre, 850 W. Front St.
- Idaho Falls: 7 p.m. Mountain time Monday, May 19, at the Bennion Student Union, 1784 Science Center Drive.
Keynote speakers
- Moscow: Hamdi Ulukaya, founder and CEO of Chobani, is a global leader in social entrepreneurship. He launched Chobani in 2005 with the goal of making high-quality food more accessible and it quickly became the top-selling yogurt brand in the U.S. Ulukaya is known for his employee-first practices and refugee advocacy, and he has received numerous honors, including being named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
- Boise: Payton McGriff ’17 is the founder of Style Her Empowered (SHE), a nonprofit that creates education and employment opportunities for women and girls in Togo. Started as a U of I class project, SHE now serves more than 2,000 girls and employs 42 women to produce expandable school uniforms and reusable menstrual pads. McGriff was named a 2024 CNN Hero and a Nasdaq Milestone Maker.
- Idaho Falls: Dana Kirkham is the senior director of regulatory and strategic initiatives for the Idaho Environmental Coalition, supporting cleanup at Idaho National Laboratory. A former mayor of Ammon, she is known for her leadership in regional development, public service and environmental policy.
Special honors
Three individuals will receive honorary doctorates at the Moscow ceremonies:
- Tim Arnold, a global leader in the mining industry, is recognized for advancing safety and sustainability and for supporting U of I’s new geological engineering program.
- Kathleen Duncan, a national leader in philanthropy and education, is recognized for her service on university and nonprofit boards.
- Dale Bosworth ’66, former U.S. Forest Service chief, is honored for his leadership in public lands management and continued global conservation work.
The President’s Medallion will be awarded to two individuals at the Moscow ceremonies:
- Justice Linda Copple Trout ’73, ’77, the first woman appointed to the Idaho Supreme Court and its first female chief justice, is honored for her lifelong commitment to public service and legal education.
- Col. Kedrick Wills, former director of the Idaho State Police, is recognized for his leadership in modernizing law enforcement and mentoring the next generation of public safety professionals.

U of I has graduated more than 132,000 students with more than 141,000 degrees since its foundation.
