North Idaho Motorcyclist Dies After Collision With Minivan

BLANCHARD, ID – A 59-year-old North Idaho man was killed in two-vehicle collision north of Post Falls on Monday.

The crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. on State Highway 41 near Clagstone Road in Blanchard, according to the Idaho State Police.

A 100-year-old woman was reportedly driving a brown 1998 Chrysler Town and Country minivan and attempted to turn left onto Clagstone Road from the southbound lane of Highway 41. At the same time, the northbound motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed on a Suzuki motorcycle and struck the passenger side of the minivan.

Authorities confirmed the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the minivan, also a Blanchard resident, was taken to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance. Her condition has not been released.

State Highway 41 was closed for about three hours as emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene. The road has since reopened to normal traffic.

The Idaho State Police continues to investigate the incident.
