YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — A 47-year-old man from Cape Coral, Florida, sustained minor injuries after being gored by a bison in Yellowstone National Park on Saturday, May 4.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the Lake Village area of the park. According to the National Park Service, the man was injured after he approached the bison too closely. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and treated the individual.

The incident remains under investigation. No further details have been released.

Park officials remind visitors that Yellowstone’s wildlife is wild and can be dangerous. Visitors are required to stay at least 25 yards away from all large animals—including bison—and 100 yards from bears and wolves. Bison are known to be unpredictable and have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal.
