Zywina Repeats as Triple Jump Champion, Warriors End CCC Meet with 10 All-CCC Honors

ASHLAND, OR – Sydnie Zywina repeated as the Cascade Conference Triple Jump Champion to highlight a successful final day for LC State at the 2025 Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. Three other individuals and a relay earned All-Cascade Conference honors to bring the Warrior total to 10 on the weekend.

The LC State men finished fourth overall as a team with 86 points and the women tied for fifth with 60 points.

“That’s always with athletics,” coach Mike Collins said. “You take highs and lows. We certainly had some highs today and some lows. Great to see Sydnie repeat in the triple jump. We had some high expectations in some other events that didn’t quite go where we wanted. All in all, I thought it was a pretty good day. I think our women’s team really showed the quality that we have with only 11 women here, yet we still scored 60 points. I think that is an amazing stat and shows how good we are when it comes to the quality of the athletes that are on our team. They really stepped up in their throws with Gianna (Anderson) scoring points in the javelin and the others scoring points in the discus and the shot put.”

Zywina earned her second straight CCC title and fourth straight All-Cascade Conference honor in the event with a win on Saturday. Her jump of 11.84m put her atop the podium at the CCC meet.

Trenton Johnson was the runner up in the men’s triple jump and was just off his career best with a jump of 14.67m. The distance is a B standard for nationals and earned him All-CCC honors in the event for the third time.

Jordan Castillo continued his breakout season with the first individual All-Cascade Conference honor of his career. The junior placed second in the 200m with a time of 21.74 after a fourth-place finish in the 100m with a PR of 10.75. The 100m time ranks second in LC State history.

Castillo ran a leg of the men’s 4x400m relay that finished second to earn Castillo his third all-conference honor of the weekend. The team of Preston Cooper, London Kirk, Castillo and Johnson ran a school record time of 3:15.35 which is also a provisional standard for nationals.

Cooper joined Castillo in both sprints and was seventh in the 100m (10.83) and eighth in the 200m (22.23). Lindner finished ninth in the women’s 100m dash (12.41).

Senior Griffen Parsells earned his third All-CCC honor in the 800m with a runner-up finish on Saturday. His time of 1:53.60 earned second place with Kobe Wessels in sixth (1:54.91) and Tristin O’Brien in 20th (2:01.82).

The women’s 4x400m relay placed fourth overall with the fifth-best time in program history. The squad of Karissa Lindner, Grace Tiegs, Zywina and Emily Collins clocked a time of 3:56.37.

The sophomore threw a distance of 12.22m, while Hope Zollman was 10th (10.75m) and Faith Wersland was 12th with a personal best of 10.32m. Grace Osborne led the Warriors in the discus with a fifth-place finish (38.91m) with Appleford in seventh (37.65m) and Zollman in 10th (35.56m).

Jr Mendoza earned an eighth-place finish in the men’s shot put with a career-best mark of 13.82m which ranks fourth in school history. Sam Weller was 14th (12.27m).
