LAPWAI, ID – Disability Action Center NW is partnering with Courageous Kids Climbing to host a cultural activity for blind and visually impaired youth at the Nez Perce National Historical Park in Lapwai. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The program will provide up to twelve school-age children who are blind or visually impaired an opportunity to engage with Nez Perce culture through touch and participation. Activities will include a circle dance, handling an eagle feather, and exploring other cultural items by hand—allowing participants to experience aspects of Nez Perce heritage that are typically not available for direct interaction.

This marks the second visit by Courageous Kids Climbing to the Nez Perce Tribe. The event is being supported by Nez Perce Tourism, which will assist in guiding the children through the hands-on experiences.

Jeff Riechmann, Executive Director of Courageous Kids Climbing, emphasized the impact of the program. “It is always exciting for us to host these events. These are really unique opportunities for these kids and are verified by the smiles on their faces,” he said.

The event is free of charge, but reservations are required due to limited space. Families interested in registering can email courageouskidsclimbing@gmail.com.
