GREENWOOD, IN – Five LC State Tennis student-athletes earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, announced on Tuesday.
Seniors Austin Swing and Beatriz Lambru earned the honor, as did sophomores Gwyn Heim, Nell Rollin and Rayana Shah.
“This group represents the effort and focus on academic excellence while living the life of a collegiate athlete,” coach Kai Fong said. “They made sacrifices to be able to achieve the desired academic results. They are exceptional students.”
The award recognizes student-athletes that excel both in the classroom and in the field of play. To be eligible, student-athletes must be in the lineup for 70 percent of an institution’s contests, must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and be at least a sophomore in standing.
Swing maintained a 3.95 grade-point average as an accounting major with a minor in pre-law. The men’s senior from Middleton, Idaho, earned 12 singles wins with seven at the No. 4 slot. He helped his team with 11 victories in doubles play.
Lambru, a native of Spain, held a 3.92 GPA with a focus in applied science and a minor in Spanish. The four-year Warrior on the women’s team earned six singles wins and was a major piece of doubles play with 12 victories. All of her doubles matches were played in the top two positions.
Heim, a sophomore from Pullman on the women’s team, has a 3.89 grade-point average and is majoring in radiographic sciences. She earned 11 singles win during the season and played throughout the lineup.
Rollin, a sophomore on the men’s team from New Caledonia, has a perfect 4.00 GPA as a sport management major. He was one of the top performers for the Warriors with season with 10 singles wins, including seven at the No. 3 spot. He earned five doubles wins.
Shah, a sophomore on the women’s team, holds a 4.00 grade-point average as a biology major. The native of Nepal earned eight singles victories which included a 4-0 record at No. 3 singles.
