LEWISTON, ID – Defending NAIA National Champion No. 4 Hope International saw its second consecutive complete-game performance on the mound on Tuesday when the Royals defeated LC State 12-1 in seven innings.
The Warriors play in an elimination game on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Harris Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Defensive miscues led to a pair of unearned runs for Hope International in the top of the first, but Jantzen Lucas worked a 1-2-3 second. LC State left the bases loaded in the home half of the inning, and the Royals added on in the third and fourth innings.
Tucker Grote took over on the mound with HIU in front 7-0 in the fifth and tossed a scoreless frame.
Hope International scored in the sixth and seventh innings to push the margin to 12-0. LC State got on the board in the bottom of the seventh after a double by Jack Sheward drove in Izzy Madariaga.
HIU shut down the Warrior offense in the rest of the inning to end the game in seven innings.

Sheward recorded the lone RBI for the Warriors in the contest.
Lucas went four innings with three strikeouts. He allowed seven runs with only four earned. Grote went the final three and did not walk a batter.
