LEWISTON, ID – After a national search, Chris Jones has been named vice president for finance and administration (VPFA) at Lewis-Clark State College, President Cynthia Pemberton announced on Thursday.
Jones, assistant vice president of budget and planning at Washington State University (WSU), brings over 15 years of public budgeting, financial management, and policy development experience along with regional higher education experience to the position.
“We are thrilled to add Chris to the team at LC State,” President Pemberton said. “Our institution is thriving and we feel Chris has the perfect background and skillset to help us continue to advance our mission and serve students well. On behalf of the college, I warmly welcome him to LC State and look forward to the good work he will do.”
The VPFA position is a part of the executive cabinet at LC State and directly oversees the offices of Budget & Financial Planning, Controller, Human Resource Services, Risk Management, Physical Plant, and Purchasing.

Jones has been in his current role since 2023. Prior to this, he served as assistant director (2019-2023), budget officer (2017-2019), and budget/policy analyst (2013-2017) in the budget office at WSU. Before WSU, he served as a state budget analyst for seven University of North Carolina system campuses from 2010-2013.
He earned a bachelor’s in economics from Clemson University and a master’s in public administration and graduate certificate in public policy from North Carolina State University.
Jones will begin at LC State on July 1.
