PULLMAN, WA — Pullman Regional Hospital has announced its 2025 award recipients for the Outstanding Employee and Nurse Excellence honors during its annual Employee Appreciation celebrations.
Rachel Nelson, Fiscal Specialist in the Fiscal Services Department, was named the 2025 Outstanding Employee. Nurses Sheila Burman of Same-Day Services and Tracy Manderville of Palouse Pediatrics were recognized as recipients of the Nurse Excellence Award.
Nelson, who has been with the hospital for two years, was selected from a field of 17 nominees. Colleagues praised her dedication and adaptability, especially during a recent accounting software integration. Her nomination highlighted her leadership and resourcefulness, as well as her role in maintaining financial stability during times of organizational change. Outside of her work at the hospital, Nelson trains service dogs, including those suited for medical environments.
Burman has served in the Same-Day Services department for nearly two years. She was chosen from 10 nominees. Colleagues cited her compassion and ability to create a supportive atmosphere for both patients and staff. One nominator described her kindness as “lifesaving” and noted that she brings humor and humanity to the workplace.
Manderville, also selected from a pool of 10 nominees, has worked as a registered nurse at Palouse Pediatrics for two years. Her efforts to establish a safe and effective vaccine program for children in the region were emphasized in her nomination. Colleagues described her as deeply empathetic and committed to patient education and safety.
The Outstanding Employee Award is open to staff members with at least two years of service who are in good standing with current licenses and certifications. Recipients are selected by a committee of previous award winners.
The Nurse Excellence Award has been presented annually for 30 years and honors licensed practical nurses or registered nurses who demonstrate exceptional patient care and uphold the hospital’s core values.
