WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Postal Service (USPS) unveiled a new set of commemorative stamps on May 19, 2025, recognizing the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.
The stamps were revealed during a public ceremony held at Freedom Plaza in Washington. Each of the three designs features the respective military branch’s name, service seal, and the inscriptions “250 Years of Service,” “Since 1775,” and “Forever/USA.”
USPS Corporate Communications Vice President Jeffery A. Adams, an Army veteran, spoke at the event and emphasized the broader meaning of service. “As we honor 250 years of military service, we also recognize those who are serving right now all over the world,” Adams said, noting the stamps aim to serve as reminders of the ongoing sacrifices made by members of the armed forces.
Military leaders present at the ceremony also acknowledged the USPS’s long-standing support to service members, particularly through the delivery of mail to those stationed abroad. Army Lt. Gen. Gregory J. Brady highlighted the morale boost associated with receiving mail during deployments. Navy Vice Adm. Michael Boyle and Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Paul J. Rock Jr. shared similar sentiments, pointing to the Postal Service’s consistent ability to connect sailors and Marines with loved ones, even in remote locations.
The stamps were designed by USPS art director Antonio Alcalá and are classified as Forever Stamps, meaning they will remain valid for mailing a one-ounce first-class letter regardless of future postage rate increases.
The event and stamp release mark a joint recognition of both the military’s historical significance and the Postal Service’s enduring role in supporting service members over the past two and a half centuries.
