Clarkston Firefighters Respond to Multiple Emergencies in Busy Night on 13th Street

CLARKSTON, WA – Clarkston Firefighters responded to a structure fire Monday night on the 600 block of 13th Street, where flames on the exterior of a residence had begun spreading into the attic space.

The call came in at approximately 8:51 p.m. on May 19. Fire crews quickly arrived and began extinguishing the fire, performing a primary search of the residence. All occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

While managing the fire, Clarkston crews were dispatched to two additional medical emergencies and a fire alarm at Walmart, all within the first 40 minutes of the initial incident. The high call volume prompted a mutual aid request to Lewiston Medics, and an all-call was issued for available off-duty firefighters to assist.

Clarkston Professional Firefighters Local 2299 extended their thanks to Asotin County Fire District #1 for their auto-aid response, as well as to the Lewiston Fire Department and local law enforcement for their assistance during the surge.

According to the union, Clarkston firefighters have now gone 140 days without a contract and continue to call for improved staffing levels to ensure the safety of both the public and fire personnel.
