LEWISTON, ID – Young athletes from across the region gathered at Airport Park on May 18 to compete in the 2025 MLB Pitch, Hit & Run event, presented by Nez Perce Express and Dailyfly Media.
The free competition welcomed baseball and softball players ages 7 to 14 to showcase their skills in pitching accuracy, hitting distance, and base-running speed. Sponsored locally by Nez Perce Express, Cutting Edge Credit Union, and TriState Health, the event was part of Major League Baseball’s nationwide youth development program.
The following athletes earned top honors in their respective age groups:
Baseball Local Champions
- Age 7/8: Jace Carlson
- Age 9/10: Owen Garcia
- Age 11/12: Calvin Kernan
- Age 13/14: No winner announced
Softball Local Champions
- Age 7/8: Oaklynn Picard
- Age 9/10: Star Kress
- Age 11/12: Alyssa Rader
- Age 13/14: Akira Frye

Participants had five chances to pitch at a strike zone target, hit from a tee for distance and accuracy, and sprint from home to first base. Athletes with the highest overall scores may be invited to a Team Championship event, where top performers will compete for a chance to attend the Pitch, Hit & Run Finals at the MLB World Series.
