LEWISTON, ID — The Lewiston Independent School District has announced the hiring of Kathleen Tetwiler as the new Assistant Principal of Sacajawea Middle School, effective for the 2025–2026 school year.
Tetwiler brings more than 20 years of experience in education, most recently serving as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Orofino Jr./Sr. High School from 2020 to 2024. Her responsibilities included staff recruitment and evaluation, student discipline, 504 plan coordination, and professional development initiatives.
She also served as Principal with the Idaho Digital Learning Academy, where she oversaw statewide staff and led instructional planning and support.
“Her ability to lead with both structure and compassion will be a strong asset to our school community,” said Corey Williams, incoming Principal of Sacajawea Middle School.
Tetwiler has held leadership roles at both school and state levels, including positions with the Idaho High School Activities Association and the Idaho Athletic Administrators Association. She hosted two Idaho State Athletic Championships and was nominated for the 2023 Marquis Ross “Promising New Athletic Director” Award.
In addition to her leadership roles, Tetwiler was named Idaho Music Educator of the Year in 2019–2020. She has taught vocal and instrumental music across grade levels and developed music curriculum, including a distance learning course in Music Appreciation. She also directed large events such as the Choral Fest with over 300 student participants.
Tetwiler has also worked extensively with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), serving as a school coordinator and coach specialist to improve school climate through data-driven strategies.
