MOSCOW, ID – Patrons visiting The Breakfast Club in downtown Moscow on Saturday may encounter more than just brunch crowds. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) plans to stage a demonstration outside the popular eatery using its mobile installation known as “Hell on Wheels,” a truck designed to resemble a livestock transport vehicle.

The truck is set to arrive at 501 S Main Street at noon on May 24 and will broadcast recorded sounds of pigs in distress, accompanied by a repeating message urging passersby to consider a vegan lifestyle. According to PETA, the display is intended to raise awareness about animal treatment in the pork industry and encourage diners to reconsider their food choices.

“Behind every piece of bacon is a once-living, sensitive individual who was crammed onto a truck for a terrifying, miserable journey to their death,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman in the announcement.

The organization claims the meat industry routinely subjects pigs to inhumane conditions, including tail docking, teeth clipping, and castration without pain relief, as well as extended transport without food or water. PETA estimates that over one million pigs die annually during transport to slaughter facilities.

The group says its demonstration is part of a broader campaign to promote veganism and provides free resources, including vegan starter kits and educational materials.
