MOSCOW, ID – Drivers traveling between Moscow and Lewiston on U.S. Highway 95 should expect intermittent daytime closures near the Thorn Creek Bridge next week as construction crews install new bridge girders.
The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced that the bridge will be fully closed in both directions during each girder installation on Wednesday and Thursday, May 28 and 29, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Flaggers will be stationed at the site to direct alternating traffic flow between installations. Motorists are advised to expect delays or seek alternative routes during the closure periods.
The girders being installed are large horizontal beams that will support the new bridge deck, part of broader safety and infrastructure improvements along the US-95 corridor. The bridge replacement is one component of a major project funded through Governor Brad Little’s Leading Idaho transportation initiative, which supports upgrades to critical state infrastructure.
Digital message boards have been placed in advance of the work zone to alert drivers, and real-time updates are available through the Idaho 511 app or online at 511.idaho.gov.
