BONNERS FERRY, ID — Chief Deputy Brian Zimmerman has officially retired from the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, according to an announcement made Friday, May 23, by Sheriff Travis Stolley.
Zimmerman, who had returned from retirement earlier this year to assist during a period of transition, began serving as Undersheriff on January 13, 2025. His short-term leadership was described by Stolley as instrumental in ushering in a renewed focus on professionalism, accountability, and community engagement within the department.
“Chief Deputy Brian Zimmerman’s experience and leadership have been vital in shaping a new culture of professionalism, accountability, and dedicated service,” Stolley said in a written statement. “His impact will be felt long after his time with us concludes.”
Throughout his brief tenure, Zimmerman worked alongside Sheriff Stolley to implement improvements in communication and operational efficiency, with the aim of strengthening public trust and internal morale within the Sheriff’s Office.
Stepping into the role of Undersheriff is Chief Deputy Dale Anderson, a recent retiree from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. Sheriff Stolley praised Anderson’s leadership experience and enthusiasm, stating, “Chief Deputy Anderson’s proven leadership and enthusiasm will help us continue to build on the foundation of professionalism and community service established under Zimmerman’s tenure.”
The Sheriff’s Office reiterated its ongoing commitment to public safety and strong community ties. For additional information, the public can contact the Sheriff’s Office at tstolley@boundarysheriff.org or (208) 267-3151.
