Supporters raise funds for Cara Kernodle, mother of University of Idaho student Xana Kernodle
POST FALLS, ID – A public fundraiser has been launched to support Cara Denise Kernodle, the mother of Xana Kernodle, one of the four University of Idaho students killed in November 2022. The GoFundMe campaign aims to help Kernodle attend the upcoming trial of the individual charged in connection with the killings, which is scheduled for August.
The online fundraiser, organized by Lori Scott of Post Falls, notes that Cara Kernodle is unable to afford the cost of travel, lodging, meals, and time away from work needed to be present for the court proceedings. According to Scott, the financial support would allow Kernodle to witness the trial and seek a sense of closure as the case moves forward.
As of May 24, the campaign had raised more than $21,000 of its $22,000 goal, with over 400 donations recorded. Contributions have come from individuals across the region, many expressing messages of encouragement and support for Kernodle and her family.
Xana Kernodle, her boyfriend Ethan Chapin, and her roommates Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves were found dead in an off-campus residence in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022. A suspect has been arrested and is scheduled to stand trial later this year.
Donations can be made through the GoFundMe website under the campaign titled “Help Cara be at the Trial – Justice for the Idaho 4.”
