K9 Millie Alerts to Vehicle During Kooskia Traffic Stop; Marijuana and Firearm Recovered

KOOSKIA, ID – A routine traffic stop on U.S. Highway 12 led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man after an Idaho County Sheriff’s Office K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics.

According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding near milepost 156 at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Friday, May 23. K9 Millie and her handler responded to the scene, and the dog gave a positive alert on the vehicle.

Following a search, deputies reportedly located marijuana and a firearm inside the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Benjiman Bailey, was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony unlawful possession of a firearm, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

Authorities emphasized that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
