POWELL, ID – An Idaho County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 12 near Powell Road Saturday evening that led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man on multiple felony charges.
At approximately 7:54 p.m., the deputy stopped a white Ford pickup after it failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the highway. K9 Millie and her handler responded to the scene, where the dog alerted on the vehicle, prompting a search.
Deputies located methamphetamine and two firearms inside the truck. The driver, identified as Zachary Kelly, was arrested for felony unlawful possession of a firearm, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
As with all criminal cases, Kelly is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
