LC State Hospitality Management Program Receives Statewide Recognition

LEWISTON, ID – Lewis-Clark State College’s hospitality management program has been named the 2025 Idaho Division of Career Technical Education (IDCTE) Exemplary Postsecondary Program, highlighting its commitment to quality instruction and student success.

The award recognizes programs that deliver rigorous and relevant instruction, maintain strong industry and community partnerships, demonstrate measurable student achievement, and foster supportive environments to help students thrive after graduation. LC State’s graphic communications program earned the honor last year.

Associate Professor Rodney Farrington and Assistant Professor Magen Fairley, who lead the program, will accept the award at the upcoming IDCTE Connect Conference this summer. The recognition also comes with a $2,000 prize.

“This recognition highlights our strategic focus on student recruitment and the development of industry-responsive curriculum,” Fairley stated. “We are proud to prepare students with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to succeed in today’s fast-evolving hospitality industry.”

Part of LC State’s Business & Computer Science Division, the program offers both a certificate and an associate degree in hospitality management.

“Our premier faculty have built professional programs that any state would be proud of,” said Jenny Scott, interim division chair. “Their dedication has laid a strong foundation that will benefit students and the community for years to come.”
