Pair Accused of Breaking Into Clarkston Home, Stealing Food and Belongings

CLARKSTON, WA – A female suspect has been arrested and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of a male suspect following a reported break-in at a home on Poplar Street in Clarkston.

The incident was first reported on May 26, 2025, when police were dispatched to a burglary call at a residence on the 1300 block of Poplar Street. The homeowner reported returning from a trip to find food missing from the refrigerator, curtains opened, and blue painter’s tape previously covering a window removed. Bags and clothing that did not belong to the resident were found inside the home, along with two carts left in the front yard, one covered with a gray tarp.

The resident told police that the suspects, 36-year-old Desirae Ann Hoke and 39-year-old Joseph Ernest Wimberly, did not have permission to enter the home and estimated approximately $40 worth of food had been taken. He also shared with police various photographs of the scene and messages exchanged with Hoke, who is known to the resident of the home, in which she acknowledged needing to retrieve personal items from the property.

A neighbor reported seeing Hoke and Wimberly leave the residence on two separate occasions between May 24 and May 25. The neighbor also noted a gold Dodge Grand Caravan, associated with Wimberly, was parked near the residence at the time.

On May 28, officers located Hoke at a Fair Street property next to a van matching the description provided. She was detained and informed she was under arrest for residential burglary. Hoke was transported to the Asotin County Jail.

During questioning, Hoke stated she had received permission to be at the home and claimed she had only retrieved items from a storage unit.

A warrant for the arrest of Wimberly has also been issued.  Both suspects face charges of residential burglary, a class B felony in Washington.
