GRANGEVILLE, ID – At approximately 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call advising a man was missing and possibly had drown in the Lochsa River near the Wilderness Gateway Campground, near milepost 122 on Highway 12.
The man, a 68 year-old from Montana, had last been seen around 1:30 p.m. Idaho County deputies responded to the area and began searching both on the ground and with the drone.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Posse also responded with their K9 and joined the search. Multiple rafters, including assistance from Three Rivers Rafting, also assisted.
Officials say the search will continue today on the ground, in the water, and by drone. The Nez Perce County Dive Team will be responding today to determine if conditions allow them to dive.
