SPOKANE, WA – Two suspects were taken into custody Saturday, May 31, 2025, in connection with a drive-by shooting incident in northeast Spokane that left a vehicle damaged but no reported injuries, according to the Spokane Police Department.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting near Liberty Avenue and Market Street. During their investigation, police linked the incident to a similar event the day prior in which the suspect had fled from law enforcement. Officers had probable cause to arrest the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Zachary Gring, for eluding police during that earlier call.
According to police, Gring allegedly shot at the house and vehicle of a person with whom he had a prior relationship. Surveillance footage and additional details about the incident were distributed to patrol units. Around 11:30 a.m., officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Both occupants fled on foot.
The female suspect, identified as 26-year-old Allie Alderson, was apprehended nearby. She was booked into Spokane County Jail on a Department of Corrections warrant related to a prior charge of riot, a separate warrant for operating a vehicle without a valid license in the first degree, and two counts of drive-by shooting.
A short time later, a citizen reported a person hiding nearby, leading officers to locate and arrest Gring without incident. He was booked on two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, two counts of drive-by shooting domestic violence, and one count of attempting to elude police related to Thursday’s incident. Additional misdemeanor charges are being referred to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office as the investigation continues.
Two firearms were recovered during the investigation, one of which had been reported stolen.
