CLARKSTON, WA — A Clarkston man was arrested on June 2 after a patrol stop led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and confirmation of an active felony warrant, according to a police affidavit.
Around 5:47 p.m., an officer observed a black Chevy Camaro with a shattered windshield parked improperly near Rooster’s Restaurant. The vehicle had reportedly been seen earlier at a different location.
A white male was seen leaning into the passenger side of the car with an unleashed German shepherd nearby. As the officer continued to monitor, the male and another individual began walking toward Granite Lake Park. One of them, later identified as Justin Shaun Newhouse, was seen removing a shirt and pulling down his hat—actions interpreted as an attempt to alter his appearance.
The officer approached the two for a city ordinance violation related to the off-leash dog. Both men initially ignored commands. After repeated questioning, Newhouse identified himself, and it was confirmed he had a felony Department of Corrections warrant.
Upon arrest, a search of Newhouse’s backpack reportedly uncovered a BB gun, two glass pipes with residue, a capped needle, a rubber hose, and a bag containing what appeared to be methamphetamine weighing approximately 5.23 grams. A small bag of meth was also found concealed in the coin pocket of his jeans during jail intake.
Newhouse was cited for knowingly possessing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to appear in Asotin District Court on June 17, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
He was booked into jail without further incident.
