Royal Toy to serve on Professional Standards Commission

LEWISTON, ID – Lewis-Clark State College Interim Chair of the Teacher Education & Mathematics Division, Royal Toy, was recently appointed to the Idaho Department of Education Professional Standards Commission (PSC).

Toy was appointed by the Idaho State Board of Education (SBOE) and will serve a three-year term starting July 1. The PSC meets five times a year and makes recommendations to the SBOE on matters such as educational standards.

According to the Idaho Department of Education, the PSC is also empowered by law to investigate and determine if the law or the Idaho Code of Ethics for Professional Educators has been violated.
The PSC currently has 17 members, and Toy will be the only member from LC State.

Toy began working for LC State in 2018 as an associate professor and director of PACE programs. Prior to this, he worked at both higher education institutions and K-12 schools. He holds a bachelor’s in music education, master’s in special education, and a doctor of education in special education.
